Publisher Resources

Why IndieBound?
IndieBound appeals to booksellers and readers who care about their local bookstores because they care about books. As publishers, you are the fuel that can help make this indie machine run.

Publisher Partner Program
Publisher support helps get more books into the hands of the vital independent bookselling market, and in turn, helps get those books into the hands of the reading public.

Traditional publishers of five books or more per year can take advantage of the Partnership Program. The Publisher Partner Guidebook and FAQ will help you get started. You can also preview the 2008 rates and schedules.

The Publisher Partner Resources page has more information and resources, including the Indie Next List Authors on Tour Program.

Talk to Your Reps
Enlighten your reps with all the IndieBound information they need with our IndieBound for Publisher Reps guide.

Talk to Your Authors
We've written a letter you can share with your authors explaining how the IndieBound.org Affiliate Program works. Of course, publishers are eligible to participate, too! You can learn more about the IndieBound.org Affiliate Program here.

Indie Next List & Bestsellers

Indie Next List
— The monthly Indie Next List, drawn from bookseller-recommended favorite handsells, epitomizes the heart and soul of passionate bookselling.

Indie Bestseller List
— The most current snapshot of what’s selling in indie bookstores nationwide.

The Indie Next Lists are distributed in the monthly Red Box, and the Indie Bestsellers lists are available for download from BookWeb.org. The respective nomination and reporting processes will remain the same as under the Book Sense program, as will the reservation process for materials publishers wish to include in the monthly Red or White Box mailings.

Title Support & In-Store Materials

  • Indiessentials — Coming soon: shelftalkers and monthly lists of enduring titles that local indies love, from ABA Publisher Partners. To find out how to participate, contact Mark Nichols.
  • Tear-off Shelftalkers — These pads with tear off recommendations allow bookstores to display shelftalkers without fear of running out.

Publisher Do-It-Yourself
Check out the special publisher section of our Bookseller DIY for downloadable art, logos, and more to let you express your indie spirit through your promotional materials. You’ll need a Publisher Partner BookWeb account to access the DIY; if you have any issues with accounts, email Joe Dawson.
