Registration for the American Booksellers Association's Fourth Annual Winter Institute is now open. This highly anticipated, free education event for ABA member booksellers features a wealth of new programming and will be held from January 29 through February 1 in Salt Lake City.

The American Booksellers Association's Nominating Committee, chaired by Steve Bercu of BookPeople in Austin, Texas, is searching for qualified candidates to serve on the ABA Board of Directors. Any ABA member may submit nominations for board directors via an electronic form or a downloadable PDF. Nominations should be submitted as soon as possible but no later than October 31, 2008 
 
The Booksellers Print-to-Order Program offers booksellers the opportunity to publish any titles in the public domain, or whose rights they have secured from the author, and sell them at margins from 50 to 75 percent.

Booksellers and other retailers have won a big victory in New York State to require out-of-state retailers to comply with existing state sales tax laws. This change comes after months of intense lobbying by New York booksellers, ABA, and other allied retailers and organizations.
